Exam facts verified 23 August 2026 against g.a.s.t. (d-mat.de) and APS India (aps-india.de). Answer formats checked against the official dMAT demo exam. The dMAT is a first-year exam and its rules move — confirm anything date-sensitive at the official source before you act on it.
Verified 23 August 2026 against g.a.s.t. and APS India.
dMAT certificates for the 26 September 2026 sitting are available from 12 October 2026 through the g.a.s.t. test-taker portal. Two numbers come back: a score on a 0–200 scale with a mean of 100, and a percentile rank showing how you did relative to other candidates.
This is the part worth getting straight before you open the portal. The dMAT is an aptitude test, not a qualifying exam. There is no published pass score, and APS India has confirmed that a low dMAT result does not on its own lead to a refused APS certificate.
The dMAT does not replace APS document verification, it does not replace degree recognition through anabin, and it does not by itself decide university admission. It is one document inside your APS application.
| Reported | What it is |
|---|---|
| Score, 0–200 | A standardised score with a mean of 100. Not a percentage and not a raw mark out of anything |
| Percentile rank | The share of test takers who scored at or below your level. A rank of 70 means you scored better than 70% of them |
Because it is standardised, your score is not a straight conversion of how many items you answered correctly. The scoring model is not published. Anyone offering you a raw-marks-to-band conversion table is guessing, including us — the estimate our own mocks report is calculated from your accuracy and labelled as our estimate for exactly this reason.
You submit the dMAT certificate as part of your APS documentation, and your dMAT result is then recorded on your APS certificate. If you completed APS online registration on or after 29 June 2026, you may in some cases submit your other APS documents first and add the dMAT certificate when it is available; APS India completes the process once the certificate arrives.
Confirm your own case with APS India in writing rather than relying on any third-party page, including this one. This is a first-year process and the handling of edge cases has moved more than once already.
Four things are true at once, and it helps to separate them.
It does not fail your APS. That is the confirmed position: a low score does not on its own block the certificate.
Universities weigh it differently, and most weigh it lightly. German universities decide individually how much attention to give the dMAT, and it sits alongside your degree, transcripts and everything else in the application. A small number use it as an explicit selection criterion for particular programmes — check the pages of the specific programmes you are applying to rather than assuming either way.
The certificate has lifetime validity. You sit it once and it does not expire.
Whether a resit is possible is not something we can tell you. No second sitting was announced for the 2026 cycle at the time of writing. If that matters to your plans, the official g.a.s.t. and APS India pages are the only sources worth acting on.

With the certificate in hand, the remaining sequence is the ordinary one: confirm your university and degree are recognised through anabin if you have not already, submit or complete your APS documentation, then apply to universities for Summer Semester 2027.
The dMAT was the new step. Everything after it is the process that already existed.

There is no official pass mark. The scale runs 0 to 200 with a mean of 100, and you also receive a percentile rank. Each German university decides how much weight to give the result, and some programmes set their own expectations.
