Anxiety about the dMAT score for German universities is running well ahead of the published facts, and a lot of what circulates in student groups is guesswork presented as certainty. This page separates what is confirmed from what genuinely is not known yet, because in a first-year exam the difference matters.
The dMAT is reported on a 0 to 200 scale with a mean of 100. Your Core Module and General Academic Module results combine into a total. Evaluation is centralised at g.a.s.t. in Bochum — not done by your test centre and not done by any university.
This is the single most important confirmed fact, and it removes most of the fear attached to the exam. APS India has confirmed that a low dMAT score does not prevent you from receiving your APS certificate. The dMAT is a document you must produce, not a bar you must clear. There is no published pass mark, because it is not a pass-or-fail exam.
dMAT results carry lifetime validity. You will not be asked to re-sit it for a later intake.
Practise the real thing, free. Mock 1 is a full 56-question dMAT Core Module test with enforced per-subtest timers and a worked solution for every question. No hand-written PDFs — it runs in the browser under the same no-notes conditions as the exam. Attempt the free mock test.
g.a.s.t. has not published how raw answers convert into the 0–200 figure. Whether subtests are weighted equally, whether difficulty is adjusted for, how the Core Module and the General Academic Module combine — none of that is in the public documentation.
So treat any specific claim about "how many questions you need for 130" as invention. Anyone quoting precise conversions, including any band estimate you see in a mock test, is estimating rather than reporting. That includes ours, which we label as our own estimate for exactly this reason.
This is the honest gap. The dMAT's first sitting is 26 September 2026, with results on 12 October 2026. No university has a cohort of dMAT scores to calibrate against yet, and published admissions criteria for Summer Semester 2027 largely predate the exam existing.
It is reasonable to expect that a score sitting in front of an admissions committee may be read alongside your other documents. It is not reasonable to state a threshold, because none has been published by anyone.
Do not treat it as pass or fail. It is not one. Your APS certificate does not depend on the number.
Do treat it as a document worth doing well on. Not because a threshold is known, but because you cannot retake it usefully within this cycle — no second sitting has been confirmed for 2026 — and the result lasts for life. It is a one-shot number attached to your file permanently, which is a decent argument for walking in prepared.
Do not let anyone sell you a score. No preparation provider, including this one, can promise you a band. The scoring model is not published, so nobody is in a position to make that promise. Treat a guaranteed-score claim as a reason to distrust everything else on the page.
The Core Module tests three fixed formats — Figure Sequences, Mathematical Equations and Latin Squares — that almost no Indian engineering or commerce graduate has seen before. Marks lost to unfamiliarity with the format, or to running out of time, are marks lost for reasons that have nothing to do with your ability.
That specific gap is what practice closes, and it is the only honest claim anyone can make about dMAT preparation.
This is a first-year exam and the rules are still settling. For anything date-sensitive or decision-critical, check the official APS India and g.a.s.t. sources directly.
Everything above is a method, and a method you have only read is worth very little at 75 seconds a question. The only way it becomes usable is repetition under a clock, on a screen, with nothing to write on.
That is exactly what DMAT Club is. Mock 1 is free with an account — a full 56-question Core Module paper with enforced per-subtest timers. The full bundle carries 280 unique questions across five mocks with zero repeats, and every single item comes with a worked solution that derives the answer: the movement rule behind each figure, the substitution order for each equation, the forced deductions for each grid. No PDFs, no scanned answer keys.

No pass mark or benchmark has been published. The dMAT is reported on a 0 to 200 scale with a mean of 100, but g.a.s.t. has not published the scoring model, so any specific claim about what score you need is speculation.

Evaluation is centralised at g.a.s.t., the TestDaF Institute in Bochum. Neither your test centre nor any individual university marks the exam.
