dMAT Registration: How to Apply, and What to Have Ready

Exam facts verified 23 August 2026 against g.a.s.t. (d-mat.de) and APS India (aps-india.de). Answer formats checked against the official dMAT demo exam. The dMAT is a first-year exam and its rules move — confirm anything date-sensitive at the official source before you act on it.

Register for the dMAT at the official g.a.s.t. portal, and nowhere else. No preparation provider can register you, no agent can hold a slot for you, and anybody offering to do either for a fee is selling you something they do not have. That includes us — we sell practice, and we have never touched a registration.

This page covers what the process asks of you, what to have ready before you open it, and the two dates people mix up. It does not link a payment page, because the only correct place to pay is the portal itself.

Before you open the portal

The registration itself is short. What slows people down is going to find a document halfway through, losing the session, and coming back to find their preferred centre has gone. Have these to hand first:

• Your passport, and the name spelled exactly as it appears on it. This is the single most common correction request afterwards, and a mismatch between your dMAT certificate and your APS file is a problem you do not want in September.
• Your APS reference, if you already have one open. The dMAT sits inside the APS process rather than beside it.
• Your bachelor's degree details — institution, discipline, year.
• A card that works internationally. The fee is charged in euros. An Indian card with international transactions disabled is the second most common reason a registration stalls, and unblocking it with your bank is not a five-minute job on a Sunday.
• Two or three acceptable test cities, in order. See below.

Choose your centre before you need to

Slots are first come, first served and there is no waitlist. Ten cities were announced for the 2026 sitting: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Kolkata, Mananthavady, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune. There is no at-home option.

If you live somewhere that is not on that list, the decision you are actually making is a travel and accommodation booking, not just a radio button. Decide your second and third choices before you start, because discovering your first choice is full is not the moment to research trains.

The two dates people confuse

There are two, they are eleven days apart, and only one of them is a deadline you can miss.

Results follow on 12 October 2026. If you are reading this after 15 September, the honest answer is on our page about missing the deadline, and it is not a comfortable one.

"dMAT application" and "dMAT app" are the same thing

Both phrases turn up constantly and both mean registration. There is no dMAT mobile app to download, and no application form to post. The exam is delivered digitally at a test centre; the registration is a web form on the g.a.s.t. portal. If a site offers you a "dMAT app" to install, that is not something g.a.s.t. publishes.

What the EUR 150 covers

One sitting of the dMAT: both modules on the same day, centrally evaluated in Bochum, and the certificate that follows. It is paid to g.a.s.t., not to APS and not to a university. The APS fee is separate and is not part of this number — the full picture is on our dMAT and APS cost breakdown.

Treat the attempt as single. No second 2026 sitting has been announced, so plan on the basis that 26 September is the only date this cycle.

After you register

You will have roughly a fortnight. Most people spend the first week deciding whether to prepare and the second discovering that the Core Module formats are nothing like anything they have sat before — which is a bad order to do it in. The single most useful thing you can do in week one is sit one full timed mock, badly, and find out which module is going to cost you marks.

Warning signs

• Anyone offering to register you, for any fee. Registration is yours to do, and handing over passport details to a third party for a form you can fill in yourself is a bad trade.
• Any site quoting a fee that is not EUR 150 for the dMAT itself.
• Any promise of a guaranteed slot at a particular centre. There is no waitlist and no allocation anyone can influence.
• Any claim of official dMAT questions. The item bank is not public. Nobody has them, us included.
